Completing 1,020 CompTIA Tech+ Practice Questions

As part of my preparation for the CompTIA Tech+ certification exam, I completed 1,020 practice questions on Udemy. I answered approximately 1,000 of them correctly, achieving an overall score of 98%.

CompTIA Tech+ is a foundational IT certification covering a broad range of topics, including hardware, software, networking, databases, cybersecurity, cloud computing and basic programming concepts.

For me, taking Tech+ was not about learning IT from scratch. I have been working with PC hardware for around 30 years, and over time that interest has expanded far beyond individual computers.

Today, my homelab consists of around 10 hypervisors running approximately 50 virtual machines. I use this environment to experiment with virtualization, networking, Windows Server, Linux, firewalls, monitoring and other infrastructure technologies.

Even with this experience, studying for CompTIA Tech+ was worthwhile. It was interesting to revisit familiar concepts and refresh the correct technical terminology. After working with computers for many years, you often understand how something works without regularly using its formal name or definition.

That terminology can be applied to almost every aspect of working with computers. It also adds considerable value when communicating within multidisciplinary teams. Using clear and consistent technical language makes it easier for software developers, testers, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity specialists and business stakeholders to understand one another.
